Knight’s Field Spray Ground to Remain Closed for the 2026 Season

The City of Wooster regrets to announce that the Knight’s Field Spray Ground will not open for the 2026 season due to significant mechanical issues that require extensive repairs.

Following routine inspections and preparations for the summer season, City staff identified critical equipment failures in the spray ground's operating system. Unfortunately, the repairs needed to restore the facility to safe, reliable operation are beyond the City's current budget and cannot be completed in time for the 2026 season.

"We understand that the spray ground is a summer destination for families and children in our community," said Michele Horst, Recreation Manager for the City of Wooster. "This was not a decision we made lightly. However, public safety and responsible stewardship of taxpayer resources must remain our top priorities."

City staff will continue evaluating long-term options for the facility. Updates regarding the future of the spray ground will be shared with the public as more information becomes available.

Residents are encouraged to use Freedlander Pool, which includes a kiddie pool. Wooster’s newest public transportation service is a valuable resource for those without access to transportation. For more information, visit www.ridewaygo.com.

The City appreciates the community's understanding and patience as we work through these challenges.
